FAQ/Help
Designed especially for new and existing Official World War II
Online™ Ring and World War II Online Axis Ring™ members,
here's a few tips aimed at simple inclusion of your HTML code on
your website.
» I joined one of the rings and haven't
been added to the list yet. Why not?
You must have your HTML code placed on the URL you submitted
before you can be added to either The Official World War II Online™
Ring or the World War II Online™ Axis Ring. We cannot make
exceptions. You should email the ringmaster of the ring you have
joined after adding your HTML code to its proper location. This
speeds things up for you and helps us as well.
» My HTML Code is coming up as text on my webpage
Are you using a free webhost such as Geocities? If you don't have
FTP access to your website files and rely on a webhost provided
online html editor, you may experience problems. For Geocities,
simply use their text-based html editor to place your HTML code.
» I'm using frames on my website. Do I need
to do anything special for list inclusion?
Yes. You do. You must enter the exact url of the file your HTML
code is placed - not your index/main file - in your webring account
information. No worries, though. If you noticed upon registration,
there are two url fields. Site URL is the web
address you wish people to enter your site at.. such as http://yoursite.com.
HTML Code URL is the actual file your HTML code resides. So if
your HTML code is placed for example, on side.html, which is part
of your frameset, you should enter http://yoursite.com/side.html
in the HTML Code URL field. This keeps our ringcheckers from flagging
your site as noncompliant.
» Can I modify my HTML Code?
We prefer you do not, but we'll allow it. You must keep
the following links intact to avoid deactivation or denial of
ring inclusion:
<a href="http://ring.wwiionline.com/list.pl?ringid=RINGID;siteid=YOURSITEID">LIST</a>
<a href="http://ring.wwiionline.com/home.pl?ringid=RINGID;siteid=YOURSITEID">
HOME</a>
<a href="http://ring.wwiionline.com/rand.pl?ringid=RINGID;siteid=YOURSITEID">
RANDOM</a>
<a href="http://ring.wwiionline.com/next.pl?ringid=RINGID;siteid=YOURSITEID">NEXT</a>
<ahref="http://ring.wwiionline.com/prev.pl?ringid=RINGID;siteid=YOURSITEID">PREVIOUS</a>
They can be in any order you wish, you may remove any provided
image from either The Official World War II Online™ Ring
and/or The World War II Online™ Axis Ring and replace with
simple text links (The
Smoking Wrecks has an example of "text-based"),
and you're free to create your own image provided it is of good
"taste" and you don't mind other webring members downloading
and copying your creation from your website.
What ring images are available?
The Official World War II Online™ Ring offer several versions
of camoflauge images for you to choose from. They're all listed
here. The World War II Online™ Axis Ring at this time only
offers one. Members of The Official World War II Online™
Ring simply replace the following line in your HTML code with
the appropriate image filename:

» I need a new copy of my
HTML code. Where do I find it?
Visit Ringmember Login! Everything you need to maintain your
account is there!
» I just received a deactivation email. How do I
get back on the list?
If you received a deactivation email, there's something wrong
with your HTML code. Is it on the HTML Code URL you submitted?
Are there any broken links in the code? Have you recently moved
your website url? The possibilities are many. If everything's
A-OK on your end, email the ringmaster of the ring you joined
to find out further information.
