» Introduction
First of all, if you wish to run a Web Ring using The Official World War II Online™ Rings system, you are assumed to be familiar with the webring concept, and HTML before you start. If you are new to the Internet, creating a webring is probably not a wise undertaking. It is best to join a couple of webrings first (hey.. we just want you familiar.. this isn't mandatory), so that you can learn how they operate.

Next, this is a preliminary Terms of Agreement. It is very liberal, so we doubt if anyone will find anything objectionable about it. If anyone does, they have only to contact the Head Ringmaster with their concerns and we will try to modify those terms in question to meet their requirements. We want this to be something all Ringmasters can be comfortable with. If modifications to the agreement are made, those changes will be posted on The Official World War II Online™ Rings home page.

» Terms of service
The Official World War II Online™ Rings system is a limited webring hosting service. We say limited because the number of rings we can host is currently limited by our disk space. Our plans are to stop accepting new webrings once we get near our limit. We have a long way to go before nearing that limit, of course!

It is our policy to offer open, and relatively unrestricted access to our service, with regard to the type of content allowed with the exceptions noted in Appendix A. The service provided by the The Official World War II Online™ Rings system allows related websites a means to link together into easily navigable groupings referred to as Webrings. While we provide the basic navigation system for these member webrings, each home page for a webring is hosted on a different server owned and operated by another person who is known as the RingMaster. The The Official World War II Online™ Rings system has no control over, access to, or responsibility for the content found on these web pages, member websites of the webrings, or the associated admin pages for these webrings, including images, links, trademarked material and/or other content.

Because of this, by using our system and viewing member webrings or their member websites, you understand and agree that you may be exposed to images and other material that you may find objectionable, indecent, or otherwise offensive. If the content or material found on a member webring or one of it's member websites concerns you, please contact the RingMaster of the webring in question.

Due to possibility of exposure to adult or mature content, and the collection of personal information (name, e-mail address, and year of birth), we do not allow children under the age of 14 to create or join a webring hosted on The Official World War II Online™ Rings system!

This in no way means that children under the age of 14 may not navigate the webings that are hosted on this webring system or it's members websites, or that they cannot visit The Official World War II Online™ Rings system Directory to find your webring. It just means they cannot create their own Webring, or become a member of one of our member webrings.

» Content Ownership Clause
For content you make available through webrings hosted by The Official World War II Online™ Rings system, including descriptions, links and images, you grant The Official World War II Online™ Rings system the world-wide, royalty free and non-exclusive license to reproduce and publish such content, for the sole purpose of promoting the service itself. This license remains in effect only for as long as you continue to include such content on the service and will end at the time you delete such content from the service. In plain English, this means you retain the copyright on all your content, but you grant us the right to use it in order to publicize the service and acquire sponsors. Sponsors mean more webspace and better service to you. This doesn't mean we will use your graphics or content, it means we can use your ring as an example or mention your webring to prospective sponsors. If you have any concerns on this or if any part of it is not clear, please contact us. What is yours, should remain yours!

» Reserved Rights and Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold The Official World War II Online™ Rings system, and its affiliates and agents harmless from any claim, liability, loss, or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees due to or arising out of content you make available through the service, your use of the service, your connection to the service, your violation of these Terms of service, or your violation of any rights of another.

» We Also Reserve the Following Rights
To deny, remove or block any Webring and Webring Information from the service with notice, for any reason, including tampering or interfering with the function of the service, violation of these Terms of service, and lack of use.

To adopt, maintain, or reassign any Webring and Webring information that appears to have been abandoned. All effort will be made to notify the RingMaster (Owner) prior to taking this action.

To modify or discontinue this service for any reason, either temporarily or permanently, without notice. You agree that The Official World War II Online™ Rings system shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the service.

Upon leaving the service, Ring Members and RingMasters agree to remove all The Official World War II Online™ Rings system related data, including links supplied by The Official World War II Online™ Rings system, and trademarks from their website.

» Disclaimer of Warranty
The Official World War II Online™ Rings system makes no representations about the suitability of this service or about any content or information made accessible by the service, for any purpose. The service is provided "AS IS" without express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

The Official World War II Online™ Rings system makes no warranty that:

• the service will meet your requirements
  
• that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
  
• that the results that may be obtained from the use of the service will be accurate or reliable
  
• and finally that any errors in the software will be corrected as fast as you may wish them to be.

» Limitation of Liability
The Official World War II Online™ Rings system and any of its agents shall not be held liable under any theory for any damages suffered by you or any user of the service, including but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other losses (even if you have advised us of the possibility of such damages), resulting from:

• the use or the inability to use the service
• unauthorized or accidental loss or alteration of your data or transmission
• or any other matter relating to the service.

» Appendix A
Although we do not actively monitor content of our hosted webrings, we do try to be very broad in what will be allowed in The Official World War II Online™ Rings system in terms of being World War II Online™ related. We do however automatically forbid the following types of content:

Promoting or conducting illegal activities. Such information if found, will be reported to the appropriate authorities.

Child Pornography. Yes this does falls under the above, but it bears emphasizing. If any content is found to even remotely promote child pornography, or otherwise promoting the exploitation or abuse of children, we will happily report the offending person to the proper authorities will all haste.

Racial/Religious/Sexual Hatred or Bigotry. Understanding the difference between Axis-related webrings and political viewpoints of the World War II Era nature isn't that hard. We hope you use your best judgement when creating your webring with us. We strongly support the First Amendment and individual liberties. We are exercising ours by declining to host material related to negative activities and viewpoints. If you want to promote such beliefs, it is your right but please go somewhere else. Axis related webrings are welcome if they concern World War II Online™ related content only.
